Biography: Born on February 1, 1944, Mike Enzi attended both George Washington University and University of Denver where he received advanced degrees in accounting and retail marketing. His background is in accounting and owning small businesses. He served on the Wyoming Air National Guard. Enzi became the mayor of Gillette in 1975 and served for four terms. He and his family have strong ties to the Presbyterian church and Enzi strongly associates himself with the Republican party. He is concerned with issues related to keeping the family whole and finding a source of renewable energy. Mike Enzi became the U.S. senator for Wyoming in 1997 and is currently still holding the position. He is running for reelection this coming fall. 
       Mike Enzi has been considered one of the most conservative members of the Senate because of his stance on many pressing issues. Topics that are of interest to him include health care reform, family welfare, mining, and energy sources. He is against abortion and gay marriage and fights to protect gun rights. He chaired the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, which is what gave him more say in important issues. Enzi supports policies such as privatizing Social Security in the future.

           Mike Enzi had a recent success in the senate primary on Tuesday night. Enzi was up against four other competitors and yet he prevailed. Wyoming is supporting him because they agree with the policies he is trying to enact. Enzi wants to gain a balanced federal tax budget. He also has been advocating for Internet sales tax for a very long time. Having  been a Senator for so long gives Enzi an advantage over the other contenders. Only time will tell whether he is reelected or not.
